I was first introduced to specialty pharmacy when I was offered an internship at Axium Specialty Pharmacy (now known as Kroger Specialty Pharmacy) in 2015. Throughout my internship I had the opportunity to learn both operations and HR. This gave me the opportunity to learn the why’s behind specialty, why we serve our patients with the best customer service, why having a good culture was so important as well as learning each section of the business from our call center, pharmacy, RCM/billing, sales, finance, working with manufacturers, etc.
At the end of my internship, I made the decision to continue my career in HR and Recruiting because I truly loved working with people and saw what impacts a good recruiting team can have within a company. Especially in this industry and knowing the reasons why it’s important to hire people who you know will continue to provide the best customer service to our patients and treat them as if they are a part of their own families.
Over the course of the next 5 years, I transitioned to the Recruiting Manager, and I continued to learn every aspect of Specialty Pharmacy and truly fell in love with the industry, especially because I knew how important our jobs were to our patients. I eventually went on to my next venture at another specialty pharmacy where I continued to develop and grow their COE for recruiting and hired on a recruiting team as well. Soon after, I transitioned into an HR Business Partner position to work on the other side of HR.
In recent months, I made the decision to change my career and start working for Crawford Thomas Recruiting and Staffing. Although I am new at Crawford Thomas, I was not new with them. In 2017, Crawford Thomas began working with us and in no time, became our number one vendor who we heavily relied on for any position or project we needed across the nation. Crawford Thomas truly took the time to sit with us and our hiring managers to learn what we did as a company, what made us different, what made us successful, and the importance of hiring the right people; especially working in specialty pharmacy, we are dealing with patients’ lives and it’s so important to hire people who will have compassion towards our patients but also a passion for specialty pharmacy.
As mentioned, Crawford Thomas not only took the time to learn our company and build relationships with our hiring managers, but they learned our culture. They listened to everything we told them about us and always sent us quality candidates. They knew how important it was to us to find the right person for every position. We wanted to hire people who had experience, who would treat our patients great and truly cared about what they did in the office and in the community.
They would visit our offices to see why we emphasized hiring the right people. People who will care for our patients and will continue to grow our culture. Crawford was successful with our companies due to these many reasons, but they also have an incredible recruiting team who would work around the clock to help us, especially if we had an immediate need or a job fair. They knew the why’s behind the importance of recruiting because at the end of the day, the only people who were affected by this, were our patients.
As you can see, the first 7-8 years of my career were fully dedicated to Specialty Pharmacy, Recruiting and HR. I have a strong passion for Specialty Pharmacy and with Crawford Thomas’s Award-winning team, I can now offer both those amazing services to so many more companies out in the marketplace. I am very excited to be able to share my experiences and knowledge with our future clients and continue to provide a level of service that is truly deserving for a very important industry. . .
